Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Planners groups.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
